High Chair Time

At Taylor's 4month check-up I got the go ahead from her doctor to start introducing food. As everyone knows, you start with rice cereal. I started sneaking cereal into her last bottle at 6 weeks of age so I figured I'd start with peas. It went great the first feeding, but the next day she was not excited at all. New flavors plus new way of eating do not mix. So I backed off from the peas and started with the cereal. And I'm glad to say she is doing great! Now I'm trying to make the switch from feeding in the bouncer to feeding in the high chair. I got her all hooked in, gave her some toys, and started taking pics before I fed her. Now I know she looks content in these pictures, but like most things with Taylor, it didn't last long. We are still doing the feeding in the bouncer for now, but I will try again soon. She just looks so cute sitting in her high chair!

This is What Tired Looks Like

Poor Taylor. She played so hard she just crashed out! Smack dab right there on her play gym. I laid her down to play so I could cook dinner. She started crying (new thing she does when I leave her side) but I thought, she can cry it out for a few minutes. All of a sudden there was no noise. I assumed she was watching TV (which she seems to enjoy). Then Paul walked by her on his way to the backyard, looked at her, and said, "is she dead?" I come over, take one look, and she's sleeping. It was too cute not to snap a photo. I'm sure this will not be the last time she falls asleep on this thing!

Side Note: I lay her on her back, in the middle of the play gym. First thing she does is roll to her tummy. Next, she seems to wiggle her way around. One time I found she had wiggled her way under the chair that was right next to the play gym. I tried to snap a photo but there was no time. She was REALLY mad.

Updates

So I am discovering that having a baby pretty much gives up all my "me" time. I haven't been on the computer in over a week! Thank goodness for the iphone or I may lose complete contact with the world. There are just things I can't do on the iphone, such as update my blog.

So lets see... what has been going on? Last weekend I had the joy of having my mom and sister in town. We of course went to the mall because we love "looking around." Only bad thing was we took Paul who takes all the joy out of it. As soon as we walk into a store he is ready to leave. All I hear is, "Jennifer, your not buying anything" "Hurry up" "Why do we have to look in this kid store, you just spent 30 minutes in PB Kids!" Next time he will not be going with us.

Taylor is still kind of sick. She seems to have this cold that will not go away. Runny nose, cough, and there is nothing you can do for it. It is partially my fault because I take her to the child care center at the gym where she most likely picked it up. But I can't stop going. This is the one time during my day that I get an hour of "me" time. Being that I have no family in Austin it is me and Taylor all day, everyday. Not that it is a bad thing, but sometimes, everyone needs a break. And going to the gym gives me energy which helps me take care of Taylor all day.

Speaking of break, Paul and I will be going to Napa in a month. My parents are going to come and take care of Taylor. I can't tell you how excited I am. Of course I will miss my little lady like CRAZY, but I am looking forward to being able to sleep in, get a massage, not rushing through dinner, and of course, drinking wine. Taylor sees my mom quite often and is very comfortable with her so I know she won't miss me too much!

And lastly, some picture updates, courtesy of the iphone

Just Say No

To Crack!

My friend Sheridan had mentioned that her little girl (see previous post) has a very long butt crack. I told her maybe all babies do because I think Taylor's butt crack is long. The other night after Taylor finished her bath, I was putting lotion on her when she rolled over to her tummy. I couldn't resist taking a picture! Then I noticed it shows her "long crack." I sent the photo to her and she said they "cracked" up (no pun intended). Thought you all might enjoy it as well.

First "Official" Play date

Yesterday I got together with two of my friends Sheridan and Laura for a baby play date. Laura has a bun in the oven and Sheridan has a daughter, Reagan who is 3 months older than Taylor. We've had other outings with other kids, but this was the first where we actually sat on the floor and played with toys. I think Taylor enjoyed herself. She was in awe of this ball that Reagan has that rolls around on the floor. She was reaching for it with such force that I have never seen from her before. Daddy and I plan to make a trip to Babies R Us this weekend in an attempt to find that toy.

4 Months!

On Easter Sunday, our little bunny Taylor turned 4 months old. It's amazing how fast the time is flying by! And as many of you know, the 4 month well visit comes complete with a set of shots. She screamed of course, but I was able to quickly calm her down with a bottle. She was smiling before we even left.

Current Stats
Weight: 16 lbs 4 oz, which puts her right between the 90th and 97th percentile
Height: 26 1/2 inches, which is actually above the 97th percentile curve

Again, Dr Norton said Taylor has great weight to height ratio. My only fear is that I will have a 6 ft 11 daughter. I hope that doesn't happen! Other than her off the charts height, Taylor is 100% a healthy (and sometimes happy) baby! She is teething now which has definitely made her more fussy. But can you blame her?!?

And here are her usual 4 month pictures in her crib. Taylor just woke up before I snapped these pictures which is why her little cheek is so red. I think she had her hand stuck underneath it while she was sleeping so she could suck on her fingers.
