Grandma's Girl

A few weeks ago both grandmas came in town to visit. The nice thing about grandmas is that they LOVE to hold the baby. Taylor really likes to be held so it was great giving my back a break.

This is Taylor with my mom.

Both Grandma's and both my babies

And last but not least... daddy and Taylor

Peas

Yesterday Paul and I fed Taylor "real food" for the first time. She seemed to like it, although she didn't take in very much. I'm going to keep trying a little bit every day so she can work on her tongue action. Of course we took a video of this occasion, and it's pretty cute.

Working Out

The very day Taylor turned 3 months I hit the gym. 3 months is the minimum age the child care center will take care of your baby. I've been going hard ever since.... or at least I thought I was. Keep in mind it has been well over a year since I have worked out. I took a "hiatus" before I got pregnant, and anyone who has been pregnant knows how hard it is to pick up where you left off. All l wanted to do is sleep or curl up on the couch with a bag of doritos.

So on Monday I did the barbell class. Basically it's a weightlifting class where you use the barbell and hand weights to work your entire body. It was only my third time in class so I haven't really built up my muscles yet to use heavy weights. I put 5 lbs on each side of my barbell (light, but doable). Shortly after the class started the guy behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said, with a smile, "you know, there are more weights over there." He then giggled, and I giggled back. But what I really wanted to say was "look ass hole. I'm new. I just had a baby. Give me a break. And why are you in this class? These classes are designed for chicks!" But I held my tongue. I then began to look around the room only to realize that EVERYONE had more weight on their bar than me. I was too embarrassed to get more weight (I didn't want him to know that he was right?!?). And what was even more embarrassing is that most of the girls in the class are half my size (I'm kind of tall). As I was looking at everyone in the mirror I also noticed that everyone had on cute workout outfits. What happened to t-shirts? I felt like the frumpy, fat, weak girl.

The gym is intimidating, but I'm here to conquer it. Screw the other moms with their boobs up to their chin that don't move. Their tight spandex pants and tank tops. Their perfectly placed pony tails. My boobs aren't to my chin cause their real. I just had a baby so I don't do tank tops yet. My hair is a mess because I'm trying to conceal my stick out ears.

Wow... I sound bitter. It's really not that bad. I'm sure no one is judging me. I'm my own worst critic and I am very hard on myself. I will keep going in my t-shirts and messy hair because I'm there for me and me only. And next Monday, I will load up my bar. I might even lay a few extra weights out to the side in case I'm feeling extra strong.

What do you do?

When your baby needs a hair cut at 3 1/2 months?

Put it in a pony tail!

My New BEST FRIEND

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE to cook. I cook dinner almost every night of the week. Ever since the arrival of Taylor, cooking has become a little more of a challenge. I have to stick with simple recipes to accommodate her short attention span. Many times I "prep" for dinner early in the day. Chopping veggies, cleaning lettuce, measuring out ingredients, just to help speed along the process later. It has actually become pretty fun. I put Taylor in her bouncer on the island and I explain to her everything I am doing. She always smiles and talks back to me. I look forward to the day when she will actually be able to help!

One of my favorite things to make is pizza. I have found several pizza dough recipes that require a food processor, which I have, only it is very very tiny. I always have to cut my recipe in half and combine later. Last weekend I went out and bought the food processor of all food processors. And I must say, I am in love! My main reason for buying it was to make baby food for Taylor (which will be very soon). Today I used it for the first time to make pizza dough. The processor comes with a dough hook and I have never made dough faster or had it clump into such a perfect ball. Again, I am in love! If you don't already have one, you should get one!

growing girl

Everyday Taylor seems to do new things she hasn't done before. She used to hate tummy time! Now she holds her head up so high, arching her back, pulling her legs up. She has started reaching for things with her hands, focusing on objects and trying to grab them. She smiles all the time and I can finally catch it on camera. These are a few of my new favorite pictures of her. I'm working on getting a video of her on her tummy because it's too cute not to share. Enjoy!

It's A Boy!

Today my sister and her husband found out that they are expecting a baby boy! I am so happy for them. I secretly was hoping for a girl since our kids will be so close in age, but I couldn't be more excited. I've been browsing the baby boy section in Nordstroms lately (because the chinese gender chart said she was having a boy) and I've seen so many cute things I want to buy. Now I can!!! Here's a picture of the ultrasound, and one of Jamie in her blue "what's kickin" shirt. Congratulations to you both. I can't wait to meet little "J" Nevill :)

3 Months!

Wow! Already?!?! My little girl is getting so big! In addition to celebrating Taylor's 3 months in this world, Paul and I are also celebrating our 4 year anniversary. And there's no other way I would rather spend this day than with my husband and daughter. She has truly been the best gift he has ever given me. I am so blessed to have such a beautiful family. Here are a few of the many pictures that Paul and I took of Taylor. She looks the same to me, just more hair!

And the Oscar does NOT go to........

So a friend suggested I try and video Taylor since I can never seem to get her to smile on camera. We don't have a video camera so I decided to download a camera app for my iphone. It works pretty well, however Paul and I are not so great behind the camera. This is the first video we shot and we can't stop laughing at it. So enjoy and please ignore my telling Paul what to do, my yelling at the dog, and Paul's inappropriate use of language. This is the norm in our household!
