Sleeping Beauty

Taylor is turning out to be a great sleeper (knock on wood)! Last night she slept for 11 hours, and 10 hours the night before! I hope this will become permanent, but only time will tell. If it does I want to start putting her to sleep earlier. Right now I try to keep her up until 10pm, but I would like to try 9pm because she really starts to get tired around that time. I snapped some pictures of her sleeping in her crib this morning before she woke up. I know you aren't supposed to have anything in the crib, but I swaddle her at night and she usually kicks it off at some point.

So I mentioned previously that I have been trying to get a photo of Taylor smiling. I haven't gotten one yet, but you can tell she was smiling in this photo right before she stuck her tongue out. She has recently discovered it and is always sticking it out. It's so cute!

RUN RUN as fast as you can

Today I made my first solo trip to town lake. As I mentioned previously I've been several times with the baby, but because she is still so young I can only walk. My in-laws are in town and my mother in-law loves holding Taylor, so I took advantage of the situation and went by myself. Jamie and I are doing the Houston Rodeo 5k fun run at the end of September so I need to prepare myself. I ran the first stretch from the mopac bridge to the pedestrian bridge, walked across, and walked a little ways on the next stretch. I was running into the wind on the last stretch so that made it much more difficult. Here a few of my likes and dislikes from my walk/run today.
LIKES:
the beautiful clear sky
the guy riding his bike singing at the top of his lungs
running in the direction of the wind
the dogs that were so happy to be at the lake
feeling myself getting thinner :)
DIS-LIKES:
having to pee as soon as I got to the lake
running into the wind
men in biker shorts showing their whole package
being doubled lapped (they were seasoned runners)
groups walking side by side with multiple strollers (wait until the week day when it's not so crowded)
getting dust blown in my face

Pictures!

So I promised pictures and here they are!

These are from when my mom was in town. We went to the mall and put sunglasses on her. I didn't buy any yet because I want to make sure I get the right size for summer. The last one is when we were eating mexican food at Santa Rita Cantina.

Paul took this photo of me sleeping with Taylor on my chest. Please ignore the fact that I put tanning lotion on my face and not my arms. The problem has since been fixed!

I think this outfit is pretty on her... everything is!

I was trying to get a head start on dinner, so I put Taylor in her bouncer on the kitchen island so she could watch me cook and I could talk to her. She lasted about 30 minutes before she started crying... but the crying could have been from the onions :)

I have been trying to go to town lake a few days a week with the baby. I snapped this one of her in her car seat before we left the house. She looks so long!

Taylor has been smiling a lot lately. I keep trying to snap a photo of it, but she turns it off for the camera. She has also discovered her hands lately and is really moving them all around. This one kind of captures that!

These two are Taylor on Paul's lap. She really looks long here.

Crib Sleeper

Last weekend my mom came in town to see Taylor because she didn't have to work Friday through Monday. My mom always sleeps in my upstairs guest room so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to let Taylor sleep in her crib for the first time since her room is upstairs as well. Up until this point I have been putting her in her bassinet in my room. The first night didn't go so great. She woke up after only 3 hours to eat (I blame my mom for letting her sleep all day!). The next night she slept 9 1/2 hrs. Well, the past 3 days she has slept through the night for a minimum of 8 1/2 hours. I am hoping this continues because I have thuroughly enjoyed my sleep! I believe the main reason she sleeps all night is because she doesn't really take an afternoon nap. She cat-naps here and there, but never takes a long serious nap. The only down side is that she does start to get pretty cranky around 6:00 pm until she goes to bed which is usually around 9:30-10:00. I know that is late, but I want to make sure she gets in all her feedings, plus sometimes it will be 10:00 and she is wide awake!

Taylor has also been smiling a ton! I noticed this right around the 6 week mark. She has also been following me with her eyes. I like to place her on my lap and talk to her and she talks back and smiles. It's so cute! I have tried to document this with pictures, but it seems as though every time I try to snap a photo of her smiling she stops. I will keep trying! I will post some pictures today or tomorrow of her once I download them. She is sleeping right now so I wanted to get this post done while I could! Can't waste time anymore!

New Year, New Mommy, New Hair-do

I thought I would kick start the year by changing up my look. Whenever I get sick of my hair, I tend to go back to my roots. It doesn't happen often, and it usually doesn't stay that way long, but this time it might have some staying power. After all, my baby has brown hair, and so should I. I also got it trimmed up and it just feels so fresh and light!

And because she's so cute, here are some recent pictures of Taylor

And the winner is...

Taylor! Thank you so much to everyone who voted for our sweet baby girl. For those of you who don't know, the grand prize was a free photo session for me and a friend, and the photo will be featured on the photographer's splash page (whatever that is). I also recently just entered Taylor in Live with Regis and Kelly's beautiful baby search. I looked on the contest page to see if there were any age restrictions and couldn't find any so I entered her. Then a day or two later while watching the show they said the minimum age requirement is 6 months which makes Taylor ineligible. I'm ok with that because I would hate to be begging everyone to vote for Taylor again. I'll just wait till next year! But again, thank you so much to everyone who voted for Taylor. All the babies were beautiful, but Taylor definitely stood out! So glad she won!

Happy 1 month Taylor

For Taylor's one month celebration, we went to the pediatrician for her one month well visit. Taylor now weighs 11 lbs 2 oz. She's getting so big! She also cried through the whole appointment! While I was in the room waiting for the doctor to come in she was screaming bloody murder... I thought for sure someone would come by to make sure everything was ok, or send the doc in right away to get us out of there so we didn't scare the other children. Finally once I got her in the car she fell fast asleep. The important thing is she is 100% healthy! I took some pictures of her in her crib to document the 1 month milestone. I'm going to take them every month in the same position so we can see her growing! I also took some with some of her longhorn items since we are playing in the national championship game in 2 days... hook em'
