There She Goes

It took over a month, but Taylor finally figured out how to crawl on her knees! There's no stopping this train now!

Oh, and the dog's toys are not off limits! She traded one of her toys for the blue bone. What can ya do?!?!

Sneak Peek

Taylor's photographer just posted 2 photos of her 7 month photo session on her blog! Drop by Fancy Pants Photography and have a look! And while your there, leave a comment!

Into Everything!

Now that Taylor is on the move she is into everything! The girl just won't sit still!

She crawls to the back door and pulls at the blinds

She's made friends with the owls (we may need to find them a new home)

Oh, and did I mention all she wants to do is stand! In the crib, in the living room, at the gym!

Keeping up with Taylor can be exhausting, but it is such a joy to watch her grow and explore the world around her!

Welcome Jackson Luke!

On July 15th at 5:16 pm my twin sister delivered a beautiful baby boy named Jackson Luke. Some say he looks like mommy but I think he looks like daddy. He definitely has mommy's hair! Jackson weighed in at 8 lbs 8.5 oz and measured 20.5 inches. This is big by normal standards, but especially big considering Jamie wasn't even 39 weeks yet!

Mommy, daddy, and baby are doing great. I'm so happy to be Jackson's Aunt and can't wait to watch him and Taylor grow up together!

Pink Baby Shower

Today I helped host a baby shower for my very very very good friend Cristina. She is expecting a baby girl in 4 1/2 weeks (although all signs point to an early birth!). Pregnancy doesn't look great on everyone, but for Cristina it definitely does! She looks like she has a little ball under her shirt. She is all baby!

Of course we went with a pink theme for the shower. I made a diaper cake and wrapped receiving blankets around the outside to hide the diapers. I would like to say I came up with the idea all by myself, but I stole the idea from my sister's friend Kendra who made one for Jamie's shower. It turned out pretty cute! I use a wine bottle in the center of the cake, so it makes it much more fun to drink the wine while you roll the diapers... you have to drink fast so the bottle will be ready when your finished!

For the shower I was in charge of most of the food. Cooking is my speciality after all! I made the typical menu that we always use for showers; chicken salad, pesto pasta salad, and arugula salad. Everybody loved everything! I can't tell you how many people wanted all the recipes! I guess there is a reason we continue to make these items time and time again.

Those things in the background are called "hello dolly bars." OMG they are to die for!!!

And I can't do a post without a picture of Cristina with the hostesses! I look insanely tall next to them and I even wore flats! And.... I bent my knee in this picture to shrink myself a little. I thought shorty's wear heels!!!!

I had a blast hosting the shower with these girls and I especially enjoyed being able to do this for Cristina. Can't wait to meet your little bundle of joy!

Sprinkles

A few weeks ago I went to Williams Sonoma to exchange some cereal bowls I bought. Unfortunately the ones I needed were now an online only item :(  Of course the sales associate asked me if I would like to look around before I did my return, so I did. This is always a mistake (especially in Williams Sonoma, there are countless things I would kill for!!!)

One of my favorite things to look at in the store are the speciality food items. I love cooking, food, eating, you get the idea. When I stumbled upon these sleek modern canisters I noticed it said "Sprinkles." As in "Sprinkles Cupcakes." I had to buy one! I've never had a sprinkles cupcake, but they are among the popular of these gourmet cupcake shops popping up all over the place.

I couldn't pick just one to try, so I bought two. Chocolate & Banana. They are both delicious. I would have to say Banana was my favorite. At the recommendation of the sales associate, I made cream cheese icing instead of the icing recipe that Sprinkles recommended. They were to die for! Sprinkles even gives you their signature disks to top your cupcake with!

I didn't have a chance to snap a photo of the banana cupcake, but I did take a picture of the chocolate. I tweaked the icing on this one as well. I used the vanilla icing recipe from the banana cupcake instead of the chocolate icing. I'm not a processional icing decorator so they may look a little messy but they tasted ohhh sooo good!

7 Months

I know I say this every month, but where has the time gone?!?! Feels like yesterday I was holding my little newborn, and now she is almost too heavy to hold! Taylor continues to change and grow right before my very eyes. At 6 1/2 months her two bottom front teeth finally broke through! She is kinda sorta crawling. She crawls on her tummy using her legs to push herself forward. She is starting to pull up on everything! We recently found her trying to pull up on her crib so we had to lower her mattress. Now she peeks through the bumper. It's really cute. Her monthly photos are still in the same position, but with the mattress lower the angle is different, but you get the idea.

These pics aren't that great, but she's such a wiggle worm! And it looks like someone is already in need of another hair cut!
